The fact is that Hand Sanitizers require a high percentage of alcohol (greater than 60%) in order to be effective when handwashing is unavailable. Daily use of most Hand Sanitizers will often result in extremely dry skin and irritation.

What is the recommended percentage (%) of alcohol required to be effective and how much alcohol does your hand sanitizer contain?

The CDC guidelines recommend a minimum of 60% of alcohol to be effective. Plant Alchemy hand sanitizer contain an alcohol content of 66%.  Additional anti-microbial active ingredients include: silver dihydrogen citrate, lavender oil, rosemary oil, jasmine oil, and hemp extract.

Does hand sanitizer have an expiration?

Yes, The shelf life for hand sanitizers are generally 2 years after production.

I have dry skin and is easily irritated. Will hand sanitizer dry out my skin as well?

Most hand sanitizers have a very dehydrating effect on the skin. Alcohol is the culprit. Our Plant Alchemy hand sanitizer was formulated to provide the anti-bacterial protection without compromise providing moisturizing and hydrating benefits with ingredients such as shea butter, aloe vera, safflower oil, and goats milk.

I noticed Plant Alchemy hand sanitizer contains hemp extract. How does that help as an ingredient in hand sanitizer?

Certain harmful microbes have cell walls that are more easily penetrated. Many surface cleaners and disinfectants say they can be used against SARS-CoV-2. What does this mean? Can I use these products on my hands or body to prevent or treat the virus?

Always follow the instructions on household cleaners. Do not use disinfectant sprays or wipes on your skin because they may cause skin and eye irritation. Disinfectant sprays or wipes are not intended for use on humans or animals. Disinfectant sprays or wipes are intended for use on hard, non-porous surfaces.

Where should hand sanitizer be stored?

Hand sanitizer should be stored out of reach, and sight, of children. It should not be stored above 105°F (for example, it should not be stored in a car during the summer months).
