These exquisite hand-formed beeswax tapers are crafted in a monastery by monks who do this work during periods of silence and solitude. We are particularly attracted to their tapers for purification, a sweet scent, and the soft glow of light when lit. The hives are maintained on their property or nearby. Compassionate work. 

“Beeswax, the oldest known raw material for candles, is a metabolic product of the honeybee. The wax is exuded from glands on the abdomen of the worker bees and used to make the honeycomb. The wax acquires its color and pleasing scent when in contact with honey and pollen. Beeswax has a sweet and natural scent all its own.
