Class 1: Medicine for the People: Q and A  (August 6th - CLOSED)

Herbalism is a system of care shaped by our needs and fulfilled by the land. By design, herbalism accommodates each person's unique experience of living and healing in the world. Herbalism is for everyone and every body. It is a system each person can rely on to work toward their own vibrant health over a lifetime. It is also a system that we can use collectively to relieve and even eliminate the oppressive pressures and dis-eases of society.

When used responsibly, herbalism can work to guide us toward dynamic healing not only for individuals but for every organism on the planet. In class one, we’ll find out what herbalism has meant for humans over time and what it can mean for working toward a more healthful future for all.

Class 2: Treating the Person, Not the Disease  (August 13th)

A common refrain among herbalists is "treat the person, not the disease." In this class you’ll learn how to use a system of energetics to match plants to people: you, your loved ones, and your community.

Understanding herbal energetics provides a common language for discussing plants and how they act on and with our bodies. It also means that no matter where we're at as herbalists ourselves, we have a language with which to communicate with each other, even if we're practicing in different systems. Understanding herbal energetics means you don't have to know about every plant in order to start making a difference, in your own life and the lives of others.

Class 3: Making Friends with Plants  (August 20th)

There are many ways to be a friend to plants. In this course we’ll expand the concept of wild-crafting and discuss the steps each of us needs to take in order cultivate a respectful partnership with plants.

Instead of taking from the plants that take care of us, we'll think about how to encourage a reciprocal relationship with healing plants. Anyone that loves plants, and is excited about the abundant healing that they hold, can receive their medicine through a mutual relationship of care.

Class 4: Herbalism in Real Life  (August 27th)

You don't have to go that far to find plants that are powerful medicines. Much of what we need to be well is already here.

In this class we'll learn how to turn common weeds, garden herbs, and kitchen spices into medicine with ingredients we have at home. These medicines can form the foundation of your herbal practice. We can work with resilient plants that are often overlooked to uphold and inspire vibrant health for all. These plants are not only abundant but also affordable. Herbalism, after all, is the people's medicine.
